APW - Hamilton, Grade 992B with original boxes, 21J, 16S, gold-filled OF original Hamilton Model 17 bar-over-crown case, "Hamilton Railway Special" marked Montgomery melamine DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, mono-metallic balance with Elinvar hairspring, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#C457786. A superb nearly as-new example that comes with a very rarely seen lime green colored hard plastic flip-top Hamilton box, with its outer cardboard box with endlabel bearing correctly matching movement and case serial numbers, with a "The Care of Your Watch" Hamilton booklet, and with a guarantee foldout card. CONDITION:
Mvt: Ticking sluggishly, overhaul recommended, virtually mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, small mar to plate surface immediately outside lower case screw, otherwise surfaces are nearly pristine with very few micro-fine scratches; nearly flawless dial with a light curved micro-fine scratch at perimeter from the tip of the minute hand, few minimal micro-fine contact scratches elsewhere, and with an ultra-fine surface split tracing the perimeter recess of the seconds-register; case shows no wear, some mild contact micro-fine scratches from handling, no dents or dings, vertical brushed finish to rear is fully intact; tight bow, crown shows hardly any wear; good glass crystal; green flip-top plastic box shows hardly any wear, foil Hamilton seal is present, blue inserts are present, upper lid liner is present; blue cardboard box shows typical light exterior wear, perimeter corners of upper lid have been cleanly reglued from within, lower lid has a partial perimeter split at one corner, end label is fully intact with no flaws; booklet and foldout papers are excellent.
